Jordan Hermann hit a record-equaling 150 on his ODI debut to power South Africa to a 99-run Duckworth-Lewis-Stern victory over Namibia in Windhoek.

The 24-year-old opener reached his century off 93 balls before finishing on 150 off 126 deliveries, equaling compatriot Matthew Breetzke’s record for the highest individual score on ODI debut.

Hermann shared a 190-run second-wicket stand with Tony de Zorzi, who made 72, lifting the visitors to a formidable total of 348 for six after being sent in to bat. Left-arm seamer Ruben Trumpelmann took four wickets for 68 runs for Namibia, including the dismissals of Hermann and his older brother Ruben Hermann for eight.

Rain intervened during Namibia's chase, revising the target to 262 runs from 31 overs. The hosts struggled against off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen, who picked up four wickets for 29 runs, as Namibia reached only 162 for eight.

Malan Kruger top-scored for the home side with 34 runs.

The victory gives South Africa a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, with the remaining two fixtures set to take place at the same venue.
