Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal will leave Dhaka on Friday night to attend the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Cape Town, South Africa.
A five-member parliamentary delegation will be led by Kaiser Kamal. BNP lawmakers Humam Quader Chowdhury and Sakila Farzana, and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker Md Mahbubul Alam will join the conference. Parliament Secretariat Secretary Barrister Md Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan will serve as secretary to the delegation.
The conference will be held from September 13 to 19, bringing together lawmakers and representatives from Commonwealth countries.
Discussions will focus on strengthening international law and parliamentary democracy in a changing world order under the theme “Commonwealth leadership in strengthening international law and parliamentary democracy in a changing world order”.
Kaiser Kamal is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Pakistan National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Western Cape Premier Alan Winde.
The Bangladesh delegation is also expected to meet representatives from other participating countries and attend a parliamentary workshop with CPC leaders to promote democratic practices.
