Two people were detained after two crude bombs exploded during a procession allegedly organised by activists of the banned Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organisations in Dhaka’s Gulshan-1 on Thursday, as police moved to disperse the gathering.
Police said more than 200 activists took part in the procession.
According to Gulshan Police Station (PS), the bomb explosions occurred in front of Bhola Mosque at about 11:45am when police moved to disperse the procession.
The detainees were identified as Abdur Rahim, 49, and Arafat, 20. Police also recovered five unexploded crude bombs from the spot, said Daud Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gulshan PS.
