Gold price rises after several cuts

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised gold prices by up to Tk 1,050 per bhori, including VAT, after several consecutive reductions.

The new prices came into effect at 10 AM on Saturday (September 12).

Under the revised price list, 22-carat gold now costs Tk 232,930 per bhori (11.664 grams), up from Tk 231,880.

The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 222,491 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk 191,056. Gold under the traditional system will cost Tk 156,064 per bhori.

The decision was taken at a meeting of BAJUS’s Standing Committee on Price Determination and Price Monitoring at 9 AM on Saturday.

Silver prices remain unchanged. A bhori of 22-carat silver costs Tk 5,016, while 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional silver cost Tk 4,782, Tk 4,082 and Tk 3,091, respectively.I’d use “Bangladesh Jewellers Association”, not “Bangladesh Jewelers Union Society,” as the English name.
