Training to boost police capacity for polls duties: KMP commissioner

KHULNA, Sept 16: Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commissioner Md Sazzadur Rahman said on Wednesday that police have specific legal responsibilities during elections, including maintaining a conducive environment for voters.

He made the remarks while inaugurating a two-day training workshop at KMP Lines aimed at enhancing the skills and capabilities of police personnel for the smooth performance of election duties.

KMP Commissioner Md Sazzadur Rahman said the training is mainly a “recap” of knowledge and experience gained by police personnel during their careers and urged participants to take the sessions seriously.

During the workshop, participants will receive training on election laws, inter-agency coordination, prevention of election violence, the electoral code of conduct, polling centre security and the use of body-worn cameras.

Deputy Police Commissioner (recently promoted to Additional DIG) MM Shakiluzzaman, Additional Police Commissioner, along with senior KMP officials and trainees attended the programme.
