D-Type Colony families allege irregularities

National Housing Authority (NHA) has come under allegations of irregularities in the rehabilitation and flat allocation process for 288 families of Mohammadpur D-Type Colony under a multi-storey housing project.

The affected families alleged that High Court directives and earlier government assurances were not properly implemented, with applications rejected, files reportedly missing and flats allegedly allocated through a non-transparent process.

The allegations were raised at a press conference organised by the Mohammadpur Housing Estate D-Type Colony Welfare Association at the National Press Club in the capital on Wednesday.

Association President Morgub Ahmed Naz Uddin and General Secretary Khandaker Anwar Kamal said 288 families had been rehabilitated in the colony under UN supervision in 1960 and had lived there for decades.

They said their old homes were demolished to construct the Konokchampa and Dolonchampa multi-storey buildings, but the original residents were facing difficulties securing the promised rehabilitation.

The association leaders referred to High Court writ petitions 7641/2021 and 18328/2025, alleging that the court directives had not been fully implemented and that rehabilitation conditions were changed at different stages.
