DIGHINALA, KHAGRACHHARI, Sept 17: Bangladesh Red Crescent Society’s Khagrachhari Unit on Thursday morning distributed relief materials and Tk 8,000 in cash to each of 250 families affected by recent flooding in Dighinala Upazila of the district.
The aid was handed out at Merung Union Parishad and the Dighinala Upazila Parishad hall to low-income and distressed families. Each household received rice, cooking oil, lentils, sugar and salt and Tk 8,000 sent via bKash.
Khagrachhari Zilla Parishad Member Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain, who attended as chief guest, said the Red Crescent would continue supporting people affected by disasters and urged individuals and institutions with the means to contribute to relief efforts.
At that time, Dighinala Upazila BNP General Secretary Md Joynal Abedin, Khagrachari Zilla Parishad Member and Dighinala Upazila BNP Senior Vice-President Shanti Priyo Chakma were present as special guests.
