Okays 2 cases against ex-DG SSF, wife 

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) approved two separate cases against former Director General of the Special Security Force (SSF) Lt Gen (retd) Mujibur Rahman and his wife, Tasrin Mujib, over allegations of accumulating assets worth more than Tk 10 crore disproportionate to their known sources of income.

ACC Deputy Director Akhtarul Islam confirmed the approval on Thursday.

The first case alleges that Mujibur Rahman, while holding several important government positions, abused his authority and engaged in irregularities, bribery and corruption to misappropriate hundreds of crores of taka and acquire assets in his own and his family members' names beyond his known income.

The ACC investigation found that he dishonestly acquired assets worth Tk 2,71,06,252 disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The commission has brought charges against him under Section 27(1) of the Anti Corruption Commission Act, 2004, read with Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.

In the second case, both Mujibur Rahman and Tasrin Mujib have been named as accused.

According to the ACC complaint, Tasrin, with the assistance of her husband, dishonestly acquired and retained assets worth Tk 7,52,09,193 that were disproportionate to her known sources of income.

The case has been brought under Section 27(1) of the Anti Corruption Commission Act, 2004, Section 109 of the Penal Code and Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
