The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to file an application seeking a travel restriction against former interim government adviser and National Citizen Party spokesman Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain.

Quoting an ACC official, a report by Ajker Patrika stated that the anti-graft watchdog fears Asif Mahmud might flee abroad while multiple corruption inquiries against him are underway, which would severely disrupt the investigation.

The commission is currently investigating various allegations against Asif Mahmud, including money laundering, bribery in official appointments and transfers, tender manipulation, and irregularities in development projects.

ACC received allegations that Asif Mahmud laundered Tk 11,000 crore to Dubai, Singapore, Australia, and Switzerland to purchase luxury assets and invest in businesses.

ACC officials clarified that these claims are currently under initial investigation to verify the data, documents, and individuals involved.
