PM Tarique Rahman to leave for New York on Sept 21

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will leave for New York on Monday (September 21) to attend the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. He is scheduled to address the session on September 24.

Foreign Ministry sources said the prime minister’s US visit has been shortened. He is expected to leave New York for Dhaka on the night of September 25, a day after his speech.

During the visit, he will attend several high-level UN meetings and hold bilateral talks with leaders of different countries. He will also join Bangladesh-hosted discussions on issues including the Rohingya crisis.

The prime minister is also scheduled to meet UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, UN human rights chief Volker Türk and World Bank President Ajay Banga, among others.
