Former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cantonment Police Station Rakibul Hasan, who was recently withdrawn from his post following a viral audio recording on social media, has been taken into Detective Branch (DB) custody for interrogation.

Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) Shafiqul Islam confirmed on Thursday night that a three-member inquiry committee established by the DMP summoned the officer for questioning regarding the audio clip.

The investigation panel comprises officials from both the Detective Branch and DMP Headquarters. The interrogation focuses on the content of the leaked recording, in which a voice attributed to the former OC makes controversial statements regarding law enforcement preparedness and internal police dynamics.

In the viral recording, the speaker claimed that field-level police personnel were vulnerable and alleged that senior police officials were shifting political leanings toward the BNP while ground-level officers held different views.

The recording also included discussions regarding alleged financial transactions involved in police postings and transfers.
