DAULATPUR, KUSHTIA, Sept 18: Relief items were distributed on Thursday to 400 flood-hit families in Daulatpur Upazila’s Chilmari Union after unusually high Padma River water levels, triggered by hilly onrush of water from India, inundated the area.
The Kushtia Zilla Parishad distributed 400 relief packages at Jutashahi Secondary School, each containing 20 kg of rice, lentils, potatoes, sugar, flattened rice, oral saline and other dry food.
The event was attended by BNP MP from Daulatpur Bachchu Mollah, Kushtia Zilla Parishad Administrator Sohrab Uddin, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Md Abdul Hai Siddiqui, along with local BNP leaders. MP Bachchu Mollah assured affected residents of further assistance.
The aid was distributed among families in Wards 7, 8 and 9 of Chilmari Union and Wards 2 and 3 of Bahir Madi Union.
