Namaz-e-Janaza for Ishayat Shahriar Apratim, the 13-year-old murdered son of a Comilla University teacher, was held on the campus central playground on Sunday morning.
The first funeral prayer took place around 10:00 AM, attended by a large number of university teachers, students, and local residents. Family members laid him to rest at Gandhamati Eidgah graveyard in Kotbari following a second funeral prayer at 11:00 AM.
Police recovered the schoolboy's body from a hilly area near the campus on Saturday afternoon. His mother, Associate Professor Dr Nahida Begum of the Bangla department, said Apratim went missing after leaving their Kotbari residence around 3:30 PM on Friday.
Following his disappearance, the victim's father, KM Firoz Shahriar, filed a general diary with Cumilla Sadar Dakshin Police Station.
Apratim was a Class 7 student at Cumilla Border Guard Public School.
Earlier, his mother posted an emotional plea on Facebook seeking public help to trace her son. She wrote that the boy went out carrying her iPhone to take photos with friends, but never returned home.
