RHD engineer killed in truck-CNG collision in Naogaon

A sub-assistant engineer of the Roads and Highways Department (RHD) was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run autorickshaw in Naogaon. His seven-year-old daughter was also seriously injured in the accident.

The accident occurred around 9:00 PM on Saturday (September 19) in the Hapaniya area of the Naogaon-Rajshahi regional highway in Sadar upazila.

The deceased was identified as Rasheduzzaman, working at the Mahadebpur Patnitala Sub-Division Office of the RHD in Naogaon.

According to polices, Rasheduzzaman was travelling to Mahadebpur from Naogaon town in a CNG run autorickshaw with his wife and daughter when the vehicle collided head-on with a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction in the Hapaniya area.

Rasheduzzaman died on the spot. Police later recovered the body from the scene.

Naogaon RHD Executive Engineer Abul Mansur Ahmed said Rasheduzzaman was a responsible officer and that his death was deeply painful. He added that Rasheduzzaman’s wife was safe, while his daughter Rumaisa was undergoing treatment in critical condition.

Naogaon Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge(OC)Asaduzzaman said, "police recovered the body from the scene and took it to the police station."

He added that efforts were underway to identify the truck involved in the accident and that necessary legal procedures were in progress.
