Bus catches fire while parked in Mymensingh

A bus of Soukhin Paribahan caught fire while it was parked beside a road in the Maskanda bus stand area of Mymensingh city early Saturday.

The incident occurred around midnight on Saturday (September 19). No casualties were reported.

Two units of the Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Fire Service rushed to the scene after receiving the information and brought the fire under control before it could spread to nearby areas.

According to the Fire Service, the bus was parked beside the road when the fire suddenly broke out. Firefighters quickly reached the scene and extinguished the blaze.

The cause of the fire could not be determined immediately. However, the Fire Service suspects that someone may have deliberately set the bus on fire.

Assistant Director of the Fire Service Purna Chandra Mutsuddi said two units were sent to the scene immediately after they received the report and brought the fire under control.

He said they initially suspect that someone may have set fire to the parked bus. The actual cause will be confirmed after an investigation.

Meanwhile, Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Shibirul Islam said police were investigating who might have set fire to the bus parked in the Maskanda area.

Police visited the scene and began an initial investigation. Some evidence related to the fire was also seized from the scene.

Police said they were examining various aspects to determine how the fire started and who was involved. The seized evidence and other information will be analysed to identify the actual cause of the fire and those responsible.

Further details will be known after the investigation. Legal action will be taken if anyone is found involved in the incident.
