Police detain man in Azimpur over attemptimg to fire on bus

Police have detained a 40-year-old man for allegedly attempting to set fire to a VIP bus parked beneath the Metani overbridge in Azimpur area of the capital’s Lalbagh early Sunday (September 20).

The detained man has been identified as Aminul Islam Shawon. He was detained by Lalbagh police at around 2:15 PM on Sunday, according to police.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Media and Public Relations Division, Niaz Mehedi, said Shawon was allegedly attempting to set fire to the bus when the bus staff and local residents noticed the incident and rushed to the spot.

Police personnel on patrol also arrived at the scene and detained him, the DMP official said.
