Police arrested Aleema Khan, sister of jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, at her home in Lahore on Sunday, according to a spokesperson for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party’s Punjab chapter.
The arrest comes ahead of a planned PTI protest march on September 27, as the party continues to demand the release of its founder.
The PTI spokesperson did not provide details about the reason for Aleema Khan’s arrest.
A government spokesperson and police did not respond to press's requests for comment.
Imran Khan, who served as prime minister from 2018 to 2022, has remained in jail following a series of legal cases. PTI has continued to organise protests and campaign for his release.
