Mukti C'Bazar holds 31st AGM

Mukti Cox’s Bazar held its 31st Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday in the conference room of its headquarters, Mukti Bhaban, in Cox’s Bazar.

Santosh Sharma, President of the organisation’s Executive Committee, chaired the meeting, which Bimal Chandra Dey Sarker, chief executive, moderated. The AGM opened with the national anthem, followed by an introductory session.

In his welcome address, Sharma said, “Mukti Cox’s Bazar has remained steadfast in pursuing the same path, even after three decades, which it embarked upon with the goal of promoting human welfare.”

Founding members Professor Someswar Chakravorty and Advocate Shibu Lal Debdas, an adviser to Mukti Cox’s Bazar, also addressed the meeting.

Shormin Siddiqua Lima, General Secretary of the Executive Committee, presented the minutes of the 30th AGM and the Annual Report-2026. Bimal Chandra Dey Sarker presented the organisation’s Audit Report-2026.

Sharma then presented the minutes of the 30th AGM, Annual Report-2026, Audit Report-2026 and budget for fiscal year 2026-27 to the General Committee for approval. The committee approved all four unanimously.

Project managers and coordinators of the organisation’s 16 ongoing projects presented illustrated reports on their respective projects’ activities, achievements and progress. An open question-and-answer session followed, during which members of the General and Executive committees shared their views and suggestions.

Mohammad Shahi Newaz, Deputy Director of the Cox’s Bazar District Social Services Office, said, “Each of the projects being implemented by Mukti Cox’s Bazar is contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and complementing the efforts of the Government of Bangladesh.”

Mohammad Saifur Rahman, Assistant Director (Registration and Control) of the Department of Social Services in Dhaka, said, “Mukti Cox’s Bazar is one of the most distinctive humanitarian and development organisations I have come across. Mukti is exceptional in terms of transparency and accountability.”

The meeting concluded with the election of a new seven-member Executive Committee for a three-year term from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2029.

Members of the General and Executive councils, members of Mukti Cox’s Bazar’s Senior Management Committee, project coordinators and more than 100 staff members attended the meeting.
