Mahbubur Rahman, Chairman and CEO of ETBL Holdings Limited, has been unanimously re-elected President of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)-Bangladesh for another two-year term.
The decision was taken by the ICC-Bangladesh Board, according to a press release issued on Sunday.
Rahman currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) and Chairman of Eastland Insurance PLC. He is also a former president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).
The board also unanimously elected Rupali Chowdhury, President of the Foreign Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and A K Azad, former FBCCI president and Managing Director of Ha-Meem Group, as Vice Presidents.
ICC-Bangladesh’s 19-member executive board includes leaders of major business bodies and companies, including FBCCI, DCCI, MCCI, CCCI, BGMEA, BKMEA, BTMA, LFMEAB, Bangladesh Association of Banks and major business groups.
The ICC, headquartered in Paris, has a presence in more than 170 countries and represents about 45 million companies and more than one billion workers worldwide, according to the release. It is also the only private-sector, non-sovereign organisation with permanent observer status at the UN General Assembly.
