Teenage girl rescued after nearly a year of missing

Police have rescued a teenage girl from the capital’s Shah Ali area nearly a year after she went missing from Bangshal.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said in a press release that the girl was rescued from a house in Shah Ali at around 2:30am on Wednesday after her whereabouts were traced with the help of information technology.

In the press release issued on Wednesday, DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Aktar Hossain, quoting Bangshal police, said the girl went missing after leaving home at around 10:30am on September 16, 2025, saying she was going to school.

Her father filed a general diary (GD) with Bangshal Police Station (PS) the following day.

“During the investigation of the GD, her location was traced with the help of information technology. A team of Bangshal PS then conducted a drive at a house in Shah Ali PS area around 2:30am on Wednesday and rescued her. She was later handed over to her family,” the DMP official said.
