BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that the ousted Awami League and its allies are trying to create instability across various sectors, including the ready-made garment (RMG) industry.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference held at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on Friday (6 November), Rizvi stated that while garment workers may have legitimate demands that have been addressed through discussions, recent violent incidents—including factory vandalism, torching of police boxes and vehicles, and the fatal beating of a worker—are disconnected from authentic labor movements.

Rizvi claims pro-government elements behind factory disruptions

Rizvi noted that several instigators arrested in connection with recent unrest were identified as leaders of the Jubo League and Chhatra League. He further claimed that the involvement of certain factory owners closely affiliated with the previous regime is gradually coming to light.

He alleged that some owners abruptly declared factory holidays to incite workers and create chaos. According to the BNP leader, these actions are part of a deliberate effort to disturb the newly elected government and destabilize the nation, with additional provocation coming from across the border.

Rizvi questioned whether defeated forces were attempting to revive fascism, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings by damaging the garment sector. Regarding potential violence during the 7 November rally, he expressed confidence in law enforcement agencies, adding that both the government and the public remain fully prepared to resist any lawlessness.
