Cox’s Bazar to host three-day tourism festival

Cox’s Bazar is set to host a three-day tourism festival from September 25 to 27 to mark World Tourism Day, with a series of programmes planned to promote the country’s premier tourist destination.

The festival, organised by the Cox’s Bazar district administration, will feature a tourism fair, beach-cleaning campaign, cultural programmes, folk music, band performances, fire shows and a kite festival.

Demonstrations on lifeguard services and first aid will also be arranged as part of efforts to raise awareness about tourist safety on the beach.

The main activities will be held at Laboni Point, one of the busiest sections of Cox’s Bazar beach. A colourful rally will also be organised on September 27, marking World Tourism Day.

The organisers said the festival will focus on promoting Cox’s Bazar’s tourism potential while highlighting clean beaches, environmental protection, tourist safety and local culture.

Cox’s Bazar remains one of Bangladesh’s major tourism hubs, with Laboni, Sugandha and Kolatoli among the most popular beach points. Recent tourist surges have also provided a significant boost to local hotels, restaurants and tourism-related businesses.

The festival is expected to bring together tourists, local residents, tourism entrepreneurs and other stakeholders, creating an opportunity to showcase the destination’s natural beauty and tourism services.
