Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated India's young sportsmen and sportswomen for winning silver and bronze medals in Weightlifting, Soft Tennis and Women's Skeet Team event, at the ongoing Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya in Japan.
While Mirabai Chanu, the star weightlifter from Manipur, the north-eastern State of India, was congratulated by the Prime Minister for winning a Silver medal in the Women's 49 kg Weightlifting event, Parinaaz Dhaliwal from Punjab, Maheshwari Chauhan from Rajasthan, and Raiza Dhillon from Haryana were congratulated for winning the Bronze Medal in the Women's Skeet Team event.
The Prime Minister stated that Mirabai Chanu's determination and consistency continue to inspire the nation, noting that India is proud of her. He further extended his best wishes for her future endeavours.

The Prime Minister also congratulated Jay Meena from the central Indian State of Madhya Pradesh on winning a Bronze medal in the Men's Individual event and becoming India's first-ever Asian Games medallist in Soft Tennis, calling it a historic achievement for Indian Soft Tennis. He stated that his achievement marks a memorable new chapter for the sport in India. He expressed hope that this medal will inspire many more youngsters to take up Soft Tennis and excel, and extended his best wishes to him for the journey ahead. India is well represented at the Asian Games in Japan with a contingent of over 500 young athletes who are participating in the Games.
