Man gets life term for murder in Rajbari

RAJBARI, Sept 24: A court in the district on Wednesday sentenced a 19-year-old man to life in prison for the 2023 murder of Runa Khatun, 30, the wife of a migrant worker.

Rajbari Special District and Sessions Judge Md Yusuf Hossain also fined Milon Sheikh Tk 50,000, with an additional one-year prison term if he fails to pay. Sheikh, the main accused, was present in court when the verdict was delivered.

Runa Khatun, the wife of Qatar expatriate Anisur Rahman, was found dead with her legs tied in the yard of her home in Pangsha Upazila of the district on August 19, 2023. Her brother later filed a murder case. Two other accused, both minors, have been sent to a Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal for trial.
