MP Gazi Nazrul on fresh remand

A court on Thursday placed Satkhira-4 lawmaker Gazi Mohammad Nazrul Islam on a four-day fresh remand in a case filed over allegedly abetting his second wife, Mariam Khatun, to commit suicide.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain passed the order as police produced Nazrul sought 7-day fresh remand.

Earlier on September 21, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam placed Satkhira-4 lawmaker Gazi Mohammad Nazrul Islam on a four-day remand and his first wife Maksuda Islam on a one-day remand in the case. 

Police recovered Mariam's body hanging from a ceiling fan inside Flat No. 203 on the third floor of Building No. 5 of NAM Bhaban on the evening of September 20. The Satkhira-4 lawmaker and his first wife were taken into custody after that.

Mariam's father SM Masum Billah filed the case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in the morning of September 21 against Gazi Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Maksuda Islam and Mariam's maternal uncle Obaidur Rahman for allegedly abetting her to commit suicide.�"BSS
