Water resources minister accuses opposition of plotting against democracy

Water Resources Minister and BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee has accused the opposition of being involved in a “new conspiracy” to undermine democracy.

Speaking at an event in Laxmipur on Friday, he alleged that the opposition had links with those who fled the country on August 5 and was involved in violence, arson and conspiracies against the government.

Anee said political differences and parliamentary debate were normal, but accused the opposition of using abusive and inappropriate language outside parliament.

He warned that the government would politically confront those involved in what he described as conspiracies against democracy.
