Coast Guard rescues eight fishermen

The Bangladesh Coast Guard rescued eight fishermen and their disabled fishing boat from the deep sea near Kokilmoni in the Sundarbans on Friday.

The boat’s engine broke down on September 19, leaving the fishermen stranded about 11 nautical miles south of Kokilmoni.

After the boat came within mobile network coverage on September 24, one fisherman informed the owner, who contacted the Coast Guard. A rescue team from Coast Guard Station Kokilmoni reached the area and rescued all eight fishermen safely.

They were given first aid and food. The fishermen and the boat are now being handed over to the owner.
