Vegetable saplings being produced in poly-shed houses in Natore

NATORE, Sept 25: High quality sapling of various kinds of vegetables are now being produced in two poly-shed houses at char area of the Padma River under Lalpur Upazila of the district by using modern technology. 

In this connection, two poly shed houses were built at Diarshankar char on 200 square metres of land by the initiative of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE). At present, saplings of cauliflowers, cabbage, brinjal and green chillies are being produced in the sheds, which are disease free and weather proof. 

Md Abdul Awal, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, has recently visited the sapling production site in the char of Padma River at Lalpur and thanked the local Agriculture Department for taking this step. He assured farmers that all necessary co-operations on agriculture will be provided to them. 

Director of the project Agriculturist Md Ziaur Rahaman said that necessary training regarding the subject was given to the farmers on how to produce saplings in modern method elaborately.

He said, “After completing the training, two poly shed houses were built in the char area. Besides, 500 trays and 300 kg of coco dust were given for this purpose. Farmers will be benefited by using this technology.” 

Farmers under this project, Md Moinul Islam and Md Shahabuddin, said, “We’re cultivating crops by taking saplings from these sheds and selling those to other farmers at a cheap rate. Farmers are earning good profit from it.”
