27 sent to jail over alleged disorder at JSD office

A Dhaka court on Sunday sent 27 people to jail after they were arrested under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure for allegedly creating a disorderly situation inside the central office of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) in Paltan.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam passed the order following a petition by Paltan Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Nazmul Islam, the investigation officer.

According to the police, the accused entered the JSD office on Saturday afternoon and chanted “Joy Bangla,” allegedly creating an unstable situation. Police detained them from the spot.

The investigation officer sought their detention for proper investigation, verification of their identities and addresses, and to determine the circumstances behind the incident. 

The accused are Md Didarul Alam Tuhin, Iman Ahmed Emon, Molla Md Shahjahan Siraj, Joy Sarker, Md Miraj Ahmed, Md Miraj Malek, Md Rabiul Islam, Milon Kumar Mohanta, Md Kawsar Hossain, Anjan Shil, Jalal Uddin Mondal, Abdul Latif, Shamim Ahmed, Ahammed Ahsan Habib, Md Sujan Ali, Md Tasikul Islam, Md Saifullah Sayek, Nayan Ali Sajidul Islam Tuhin, Tajul Islam, Nishkar Samrat Hossain Talukdar, Anwar Hossain, Md Alamgir Hossain, Md Al Amin Hawlader, Md Tushar Ali, Md Rashidul Haque and Mir Muktisur Rahman.

The accused were produced before the court in the evening. Defence lawyers sought bail, and the court fixed Monday for hearing the petitions.
