Anti-teen gang drive in Cumilla: 415 more detained

Police have detained 415 more people in an operation against teen gangs and troublemakers in Cumilla.

Earlier, police detained 878 people from 18 police stations in two separate drives.

The latest operation was conducted in different areas of the district from 7:00 AM on Sunday (September 27) until midnight.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) of Cumilla, Lutfor Rahman, confirmed the information.

Police said they conducted raids in areas where teen gang activities have been reported, as well as gathering spots and crime-prone areas. Senior district police officials also took part in the operation.

Lutfor Rahman said, "police are verifying whether any of the 415 detainees have been involved in criminal activities. Legal action will be taken against those found to have links to criminal activities after the verification process."

He added that the district police regularly conduct such drives to prevent teenagers from becoming involved in criminal activities. The district police remain strict in their efforts to control juvenile crime.
