Bangladesh Bank has identified 22 unauthorized online payment aggregator platforms operating without valid licenses and requested the telecom regulator to shut down their operations.
The central bank sent letters to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) on Sunday (September 27), asking authorities to block their websites and remove their mobile apps from Google Play Store.
The Payment Systems Supervision Department of Bangladesh Bank identified the illegal operators during routine monitoring.
In a public caution notice, the central bank warned that offering payment services without prior approval violates the Payment and Settlement Systems Act 2024 and constitutes a punishable offense.
The 22 unlicensed platforms listed by the central bank include BohudurPay, ZiniPay, PayTiller, BengaliPay, Payora BD, SohojPay BD, EasyPayWay, AK Pay, BD PAY, ShajgarPay, AsthaPay/CPay, UddoktaPay, Walletmix, BttPay, Easy Pay Automation, UniquePay BD, BD AUTO PAY, RH Pay BD, EzePay, AutoPay Ltd, Biswasto, and PipraPay.
Bangladesh Bank strongly advised the public against engaging in transactions through these unapproved platforms to safeguard their money and avoid potential legal risks.
