8 more die of dengue, 2,036 hospitalised

Eight more people died of dengue in the country in the past 24 hours, while 2,036 patients were hospitalised with the viral disease during the period.

The information was disclosed in the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) regular dengue bulletin issued on Monday.

According to the DGHS, the death toll from dengue this year has reached 233. Of them, 136 died in the first 28 days of September. The disease claimed 43 lives in August, 36 in July, 13 in June, one in May, and two each in January and February.

The bulletin said 2,036 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country between 8am Sunday and 8am Monday, taking the total number of hospitalisations this year to 75,730.
Another 2,064 patients were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 70,258.

Dhaka Division recorded the highest number of new hospital admissions, with 807 patients. The figures were 323 in Chattogram, 267 in Khulna, 254 in Barishal, 197 in Rajshahi, 115 in Mymensingh and 62 in Rangpur.
