Dengue claims eight more lives, 2,036 hospitalised

Eight more people have died of dengue in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 2,036 new patients have been hospitalised, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS disclosed the figures in its regular dengue bulletin on Monday (September 28).
With the latest deaths, the country’s dengue death toll has reached 233 this year. Of them, 43 died in August, 136 in the first 27 days of September, 36 in July, 13 in June, one in May, and two each in January and February.
The bulletin said 2,036 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country between 8 AM on Sunday and 8 AM on Monday.
The total number of hospitalised dengue patients this year has reached 75,730. Meanwhile, 2,064 patients were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 70,258.
Dhaka division recorded the highest number of new admissions at 807. Chattogram recorded 323, Khulna 267, Barishal 254, Mymensingh 115, Rangpur 62 and Rajshahi 197.
