Information and Broadcasting Adviser to the Prime Minister, Dr Zahed Ur Rahman, raised questions on Tuesday (September 29) regarding Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman's social media status concerning the attack on content creator Salman Muqtadir's studio.

Responding to queries during a press briefing at the Secretariat, the adviser noted that while political opposition taking advantage of an issue is expected, political leaders should have withdrawn their statements once Salman Muqtadir retracted his initial claims.

The adviser stated that after Salman Muqtadir clarified that the attack was not driven by extortion demands, leaders who relied on the earlier rumor ought to have issued clarifications or withdrawn their posts.

Dr Zahed expressed the government's sympathy toward Salman Muqtadir over the damages suffered during the incident, but emphasized that popular figures with wide social media reach and traction must exercise greater responsibility when disseminating information.

Addressing the incident itself, he affirmed that the government does not tolerate violence, admitting that the attack should have been prevented, and assured that law enforcement agencies are actively investigating to ensure swift justice.
