BFIU immediately seeks bank account details of Salman Muqtadir

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has requested the bank account details and transaction records of prominent social media influencer Salman Mohammad Muqtadir.

In an urgent email sent to various banks at 10:30 AM on September 30, the BFIU instructed financial institutions to immediately submit Muqtadir's account information.

The directive requested soft copies of Account Opening Forms (AOF), Know Your Customer (KYC) details, and bank statements under his name.

Banks were instructed to complete an attached spreadsheet detailing all associated accounts, along with interest income and Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) data. The BFIU ordered the institutions to submit the required data within one hour via the goAML message board while maintaining strict confidentiality per official circulars.

The notification was issued to state-owned, private, and foreign banks operating across the country.

The financial probe follows a recent controversy involving an attack on Muqtadir's office, where miscreants vandalized his property.

Following the incident, Muqtadir initially alleged that individuals affiliated with the BNP had demanded extortion, though he later stated that no extortion demand was made.

Addressing the issue, Information and Broadcasting Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman expressed hope that widely recognized content creators like Salman Muqtadir would act more responsibly in the future.
