Curb Mobile Snatching on Buses

Letter To the Editor
Dear Sir,

Buses are one of the primary modes of transportation in Dhaka. As fares are affordable, people from middle and lower-income groups often depend on them for travelling from one place to another. However, traffic congestion creates several problems for passengers, with mobile phone snatching being one of the most distressing.

When buses are caught in traffic, passengers often use their phones to talk to others or check directions on maps. At such moments, someone outside the bus can suddenly snatch a phone through a window and flee before the victim can react. Such incidents cause financial loss and create insecurity among passengers.

I therefore request the relevant authorities to identify locations in Dhaka where such incidents frequently occur and compile a list. Strict measures should then be taken to prevent mobile phone snatching on buses and ensure passenger safety.
