Helping SMEs grow will boost productivity: Nazneen Ahmed

Helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) gradually grow into larger businesses can increase productivity and innovation, CPD Executive Director Dr Nazneen Ahmed said Thursday.

Speaking at a roundtable in Dhaka, she said SMEs need more than loans and should receive technical support for technology adoption, skills development and innovation.

She stressed that support should be tailored to businesses at different stages of growth and called for better coordination among government agencies.

Nazneen also urged providing women workers with training opportunities during working hours and linking SME loans with technical assistance to improve productivity.
