Youth leader Simon among 4 detained in Bangla Motor

Police detained expelled Jubo Dal leader Ferdous Ahmed Simon, his brother and two others in Dhaka’s Bangla Motor area, police said Thursday night.

Tejgaon Division Commissioner Md Ibne Mizan said they were detained over an alleged assault on a man named Sohan. Locals had surrounded the four before police took them into custody.

Police said the incident may have stemmed from a previous dispute. They have not yet confirmed allegations that Sohan was attacked with a weapon or shot at.

Sohan, 45, was allegedly beaten on the head with a weapon following an argument with Simon. Two blank shots were also allegedly fired. Sohan was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he received several stitches.
