Lift falls in Mirpur, 3 seriously injured

Three people were seriously injured after a lift fell at a government housing project in Mirpur-1, Dhaka, around 6am on Friday.

The injured were identified as former Prime Minister’s Office employee Mostafizur Rahman, 62, Nais Ahmed, 40, and his eight-year-old son, Md Wasi. Nais suffered fractures in both legs. They were taken to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) in Agargaon.

Building general secretary Mohammad Shahabuddin Ahmed said the three were travelling from the fifth floor after Fajr prayers when the lift suddenly fell with a loud noise. A building guard and local residents later rescued them.
