Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman left Dhaka on Saturday for a nine-day official visit to Australia and the United States, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release on Sunday.
During the first leg of his tour, General Waker-Uz-Zaman will attend the Chief of Army Symposium and Land Forces International Defence Exposition 2026 in Perth, Australia.
He will also visit Deakin University in Melbourne during his stay in Australia.
The army chief will then travel to Washington, DC, where he will attend the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting and Exposition.
During the tour, Waker-Uz-Zaman is scheduled to hold courtesy meetings and exchange views with senior defence officials and other key figures in Australia and the United States. He will also visit several military installations in the two countries.
According to ISPR, the visit is expected to further strengthen Bangladesh’s defence cooperation and bilateral relations with Australia and the United States.
