
World Teachers’ Day-2026 was observed in districts, including Gopalganj, Joypurhat, Pirojpur and Rajbari, on Monday with a call to promote the dignity of the teaching profession by recognising outstanding educators.
This year’s theme of the day was “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our futures”.
GOPALGANJ: On the occasion, a colourful rally was brought out from the Deputy Commissioner’s office that paraded through several town roads before returning to the same venue.
A discussion followed at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, focusing on the dignity and professional security of teachers and their role in improving the quality of education.
Gopalganj-2 Constituency MP Dr K M Babar was the chief guest at the event, chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Arif-uz-Zaman. Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Habibullah, senior government officials, district education office officials and employees, and teacher representatives from various educational institutions also attended.
JOYPURHAT: On the occasion, a colourful rally began from Ramdeo Bajla Government High School and ended on the Joypurhat Sadar Upazila Parishad premises.
A discussion was later held at the Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium, attended by DC Md Al-Mamun Mia, Zilla Parishad Administrator and Senior Joint Convener of the District BNP Masud Rana Pradhan, District Education Officer Md Azizul Hakim and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahmudul Hasan, among others. Government officials, teachers and other stakeholders from across the district also attended.
Speakers highlighted the importance of ensuring teachers’ professional dignity, safety and welfare, as well as their central role in improving the quality of education. They said teachers are among the key builders of the nation and called for collective efforts to build a knowledge-based, humane and prosperous Bangladesh while upholding their respect and dignity.
PIROJPUR: To mark the day, the district administration and the district education office jointly brought out a rally from the circuit house premises that paraded the main roads and ended on the DC office premises.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at the DC office conference room with DC Md Golam Rabbani attending as chief guest while Additional DC Md Mahmudur Rahman Mamun chaired the meeting.
Among others, Pirojpur Science and Technology University Associate Professor Dr Md Akter Hossain, Principal of Government Suhrawardhy College Professor Sheik Rafiqul Islam, District Education Officer Idris Ali Azizi, Principal of Mahmudia Madrasha Dr Abdullah al Mahmud, Head Teacher of Town School Md Nazrul Islam, and Head Teacher of Pukhuria Girls’ School Enayet Karim Khan spoke on the occasion.
Speakers thanked the government for increasing the budgetary allocation in the education sector. They also urged the government to eradicate existing discriminations in education.
RAJBARI: On the occasion, a discussion meeting was held at the DC office conference room, chaired by ADC (Education & ICT) Shankar Chandra Baidya while Rajbari Municipality Administrator Kalyan Chowdhury attended as the chief guest.
Additional SP Md Shahidul Islam, Rajbari Government Women’s College Principal Rizvi Zaman, Bhandaria Kamil Madrasa Principal Sirajum Munir Ershad, District Teachers’ Association President Gazi Ahsan Habib and others spoke at the event.
District Education Officer Md Abdul Majid and District Primary Education Officer Md Tabibur Rahman presented the keynote paper. Assistant District Education Officer Pradyut Kumar moderated the discussion.
