Janhvi Kapoor turns heads in Bengal muslin in Paris

Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor showcased Bengal’s famed muslin craftsmanship on the international fashion stage, appearing in a custom-made sari at the prestigious Business of Fashion event in Paris.

Blending Indian heritage with contemporary design, Kapoor appeared in a regal, ethereal look styled by Rhea Kapoor. The appearance came as Janhvi was named among the fashion world’s 500 most influential figures.

The custom outfit was created by renowned Indian label Pankaj S Heritage, giving the traditional sari a contemporary interpretation.

The sari was woven from 460-count yarn and featured intricate muslin craftsmanship traditionally associated with the delicate varieties known as baft-e-hawa, shabnami and chandni.

Set against an ivory canvas, the sari was embellished with intricate work featuring topaz, emerald, garnet, pearls and gold beads. The ornate detailing extended from the shoulder to the arm, adding a jewellery-like finish to the ensemble.

Janhvi’s appearance highlighted the craftsmanship of Bengal’s traditional weaving heritage while presenting it through a modern international fashion lens.

The 2026 Business of Fashion list featured 100 emerging figures across eight categories from around the world. Two other Indian personalities—models Bhavita Mandhva and Pritisha Swaroop—also made the list alongside Janhvi.

Mandhva, a Chanel brand ambassador, is the first Indian woman to open a Chanel show. Swaroop is an international model, Global Ambassador for Operation Smile and founder of Ayurvedic beauty brand Prakti.
