NAOGAON, Oct 5: A court in Naogaon on Monday sentenced two men to life imprisonment in a heroin trafficking case, also fining each Tk 10,000 and ordering an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment if they fail to pay.
Naogaon Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-3 and Special Tribunal-4 Judge Sukanta Saha delivered the verdict on October 5. Convicts Mohammad Harun, 42, and Tuel, 45, were found guilty of possessing 100 grams of heroin. Harun was present in court, while Tuel remains at large.
Police arrested the two from Chhatra Bazar in Niamatpur Upazila of the district on October 26, 2014, after acting on a tip that they were carrying drugs. A search allegedly recovered 60 grams of heroin from Tuel and 40 grams from Harun, with an estimated street value of Tk 1.50 lakh. Police also seized their red 150cc Pulsar motorcycle.
