Journalist Mohammed Kamruzzaman Bablu has filed an abduction case, alleging that he was lured into a meeting through Facebook Messenger, abducted at gunpoint and held in a remote forest for several hours.

Bablu, Special Correspondent of The Daily Adin, filed the case with the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

According to the complaint, a Facebook user identified as “Mamun Sheikh” lured him to Jurain on September 30, promising information about Bitcoin. Bablu alleged that he was forced into a microbus, where several men threatened him with firearms, tied his hands and eyes and took him to a forest. He alleged that the abductors questioned him about his Facebook writings and threatened to kill him. They also allegedly took his mobile phone and bank card and withdrew money from his account from an ATM in Gopalganj. Money was also allegedly transferred through bKash using his number.
