Durga Puja to be held in 468 mandaps in Pirojpur

PIROJPUR, Oct 7: Artisans, painters and idol makers are passing busy time ahead of Durga Puja in the district this year. A total of 468 mandaps are being prepared to celebrate the festival here. 

Of the mandaps, 59 are at Pirojpur Sadar, 129 at Nazirpur, 101 at Nesarabad, 79 at Mathbaria, 49 at Bhandaria, 27 at Kawkhali and 24 at Zianagar upazilas. The government has already allocated 600 kg of rice to each manpad as incentive.

DC Md Golam Rabbani said concerned authorities have been instructed to take all kinds of security measures in the mandaps. 

Puja organisers have been asked to manage standby electricity during load shedding. Police, Ansar and SRB will be posted accordingly to hold a peaceful festival.
