German tourist loses bag at Natore station

An 18-year-old German tourist named Kirill, who came to Natore to visit Bangladesh’s historic sites, was left distressed after his bag went missing at Natore railway station on Wednesday.

Kirill said he arrived at Natore railway station by train from Bogura at around 4pm. He left his bag in the station’s waiting room and went to an ATM to withdraw cash. Before leaving, he handed over his bag and belongings to a railway official wearing a vest, who assured him that he would look after them.

When Kirill returned after withdrawing the money, neither the railway official nor his bag and other belongings were there. He searched in several places but could not find them.

According to Kirill, the iCloud location of his laptop showed that the device was in the Naogaon area at around 6:40pm on Wednesday. This has raised hopes of recovering the stolen belongings.

After losing his bag, Kirill contacted railway authorities and was later sent to Natore Sadar Police Station. He was seen waiting there for assistance for a long time and broke down in tears over the incident.

Natore Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Munsur Ahmed said the matter falls under the jurisdiction of railway police. However, as the victim is a foreign national, the matter is being given the highest priority.

“The location of the stolen device has already been identified. Police have been sent to the location. We hope to recover Kirill’s laptop, camera and other belongings as soon as possible,” he said.
