Hong Kong pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong was sentenced to an additional 10 years in prison on Thursday (November 5) for colluding with foreign powers under the city's national security law, according to AFP.
Wong, 30, who has already spent nearly six years behind bars, is now due for release in late 2036. The court reduced his sentence from 13 years following his guilty plea.
The United States, Taiwan and international human rights groups condemned the sentence, while Beijing backed Hong Kong's crackdown on acts threatening national security.
