Man gets 60 years in jail for raping two minor girls

 
BOGURA, Oct 8: A court in Bogura on Thursday sentenced a man to a total of 60-year rigorous imprisonment for raping two six-year-old girls in two separate cases.

Nur Islam, 40, was sentenced to 30 years in prison in each case. The court also fined him Tk 50,000 in each case, totalling Tk 1 lakh, and ordered the money to be paid to the two victims.

Judge Md Maruf Hossain of the Children Violence Suppression Tribunal pronounced the verdict around 11:30am. Nur Islam, a resident of Arola Abasan Project under Paikar Union in Kahalu upazila, was present in court.

According to the case statements, Nur Islam took the two children to his home on March 12, 2025, offering them food and money, and raped them. He also threatened to kill them if they disclosed the incident.

The families learned about the incident the following day when one child developed a fever and the other suffered severe bleeding.
