Bangladesh will face a demanding group-stage campaign at the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, having been drawn alongside New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, England and Qualifier B.

The tournament will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. A preliminary Super Series will begin in Windhoek on October 2, 2027, to determine the final team for the group stage, which starts on October 7.

Bangladesh will open their campaign against England in Windhoek on October 8. They will then face New Zealand in KuGompo City on October 12 before taking on Sri Lanka in Durban on October 16. Their fourth match will be against hosts South Africa in Durban on October 19, followed by their final group fixture against Qualifier B in Tshwane on October 23.

The schedule presents a varied set of challenges. New Zealand and England bring considerable experience in major tournaments, while South Africa will have the advantage of familiar conditions. Sri Lanka are another opponent Bangladesh cannot afford to underestimate.

The identity of Qualifier B will be determined through the qualification process.

The format gives Bangladesh a clear route forward, but consistency will be crucial. The top three teams from each six-team group will advance to the Super 7 stage, alongside the better-performing fourth-placed team across the two groups.

The Super 7 phase will run from October 25 to November 14, with no group-stage points carried forward. Each qualifier will play six more matches, creating a fresh contest for places in the semi-finals.

The top four teams after the Super 7 stage will progress to the semi-finals on November 17 and 18. The final is scheduled for Johannesburg on November 21.

For Bangladesh, the immediate challenge is to prepare a balanced squad capable of handling different opponents and conditions across three countries. Reliable top-order batting, disciplined bowling and the ability to finish close matches could determine whether the Tigers progress beyond the group stage.

The draw has defined the task. Turning it into a successful campaign will depend on how well Bangladesh prepare and perform under pressure.
