Cumilla-4 MP and National Citizen Party (NCP) southern region chief organiser Hasnat Abdullah has criticised the investigation committee formed to probe the question leak in a Department of Youth Development recruitment examination, alleging that those involved in wrongdoing had been assigned the task of catching the culprits.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, October 10, Hasnat said, “Those who steal are being given the responsibility of catching thieves. The person rejected by the public out of frustration over extortion has been made the leader of these thieves. Both the thieves and their leader must be brought to justice. Cancel this farcical committee formed like a theatrical ‘anything goes’ show.”
The Youth and Sports Ministry formed a five-member investigation committee on Saturday to investigate the leak of questions for the recruitment examination for assistant upazila youth development officer posts under the Department of Youth Development.
The committee has been asked to submit its report within three working days.
According to an office order signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Ullah, an additional secretary of the ministry’s administration wing has been appointed convener of the committee.
Other members include a joint secretary from the ministry’s Finance and Performance Management wing, a representative of joint secretary rank from the Ministry of Public Administration, and the director (seed financing) of the Department of Youth Development. A deputy secretary from the ministry’s administration wing will serve as member-secretary.
The office order said the ministry had become aware that the question paper for the recruitment examination, scheduled for Saturday to fill vacant 11th-grade assistant upazila youth development officer posts, had been circulated on social media.
The examination was subsequently cancelled, and the committee was formed to conduct a proper investigation into the matter.
